DFW Keys 4 Cars – Mobile Saturn Locksmith

Saturn may be gone since 2010, but thousands are still on DFW roads — and their keys and PassLock security systems still fail. We cut plain and transponder Saturn keys, program remotes, and fix the notorious “security light won’t start” PassLock condition at your location. Call (214) 717-6398, 24/7.

PassLock vs. Transponder — Why It Matters on a Saturn

Most Saturns (S-Series, L-Series, Ion, first-gen Vue) use PassLock: the security sensor lives in the ignition cylinder, not the key. The key is plain metal — but when PassLock faults, the car cranks and dies as if the key were wrong. That’s a cylinder/relearn repair, not a new key. Late Saturns (Relay, Aura, Outlook, Sky, Astra, 2008+ Vue) switched to true transponder chip keys that must be programmed. We handle both, on-site.

The PassLock Problem Every Saturn Owner Eventually Meets

Here’s the counterintuitive part: on most Saturns — S-Series, L-Series, Ion, first-generation Vue — the key has no electronics at all. The security sensor lives inside the ignition lock cylinder (GM PassLock). When that sensor drifts or fails, the car cranks and immediately dies with the security light on, and owners understandably assume they need a new key. They don’t — they need a PassLock diagnosis, a relearn procedure, or a cylinder repair. We do all three at your location, and we’ll never sell you a chip key your Saturn can’t even read.

The Late Transponder Cars

Saturn’s final act went high-tech: the Relay minivan introduced GM’s PK3 transponder, and the 2007–2010 wave — Aura, Outlook, Sky, the Opel-built Astra, and the second-generation Vue (Philips ID46 on the GM “Circle+” B114 blank) — all use genuine chip keys that must be programmed. Dealers are gone; the keys aren’t. We stock the blanks and program them curbside.

Keeping a 20-Year-Old Saturn on the Road

Saturn keys have been turning the same wafers for two decades, and worn keys are the slow killer — each hardware-store copy of a worn key copies the wear. We cut fresh keys from factory code, not from your worn original, which is the difference between a key that works and one that jiggles. If the cylinder itself is worn, we rebuild or replace it on the spot — see our ignition repair service.

Saturn Key FAQ

Security light is on and my Saturn cranks but won’t start. New key?

Probably not — that’s the classic PassLock failure, and it lives in the ignition cylinder, not the key. We diagnose before anything is replaced.

Can the hardware store copy my Saturn key?

For most models yes, mechanically — but a copy of a worn key inherits the wear. A code-cut key from us costs little more and works like the day the car was built.

Do you have keys for my 2009 Vue / Aura / Sky?

Yes — the late transponder-era blanks are stocked on our trucks, cut and programmed on-site. Call (214) 717-6398.
